Lorre's Path to Helping Horses

Lorre was born and raised on Martha’s
Vineyard in Massachusetts and that was where
she was first bitten by the horse bug. She was the typical horse crazy young girl…starting lessons at
5 or 6 and getting her first horse, Tipi at age 10. Growing up with a horse in your life is probably one
of the best childhoods any one could ever hope for.
The patience, strength, and integrity you gain from these incredible creatures are blessings that you don’t figure out until later in life.

Lorre’s life led her down many paths and away from horses for quite some time. She always remembered those beautiful childhood memories of Tipi, the good ones and those learned in the school of hard knocks, and longed to have horses back in her life some day.
That day came in June of 2002, with the purchase of her big beautiful Appaloosa, Ditti and then came Ditti’s friend, Cisco in September 2002. At the time Lorre was living in New Hampshire with her husband, Todd; son, Mitchell; and several dogs and cats. Life was good… but cold! With Todd’s older kids off to college and thoughts of warmer weather they began to look around for a new area to live. For some reason, Austin, TX kept coming up on the radar.
They made a trip down to Austin and loved the area so much, they bought property on that very trip and settled in the small town of Smithville, right on the Bastrop border. And so a new path had begun.
Ditti and some physical issues she has, is the reason for the path Lorre is on now. She started with a certification in myofascial release, with Willie Ellis of Hempstead, TX. Next, came a certification in sports massage from Equissage in Virginia. The latest is a certification in the Masterson Method™. In picking a name for her business, she stumbled upon the word Magga, which is a Buddhist term. She was actually looking for another term that meant serenity, peace, or harmony, something of that nature and found, Magga, the path to the cessation of pain and stress. How befitting?

Lorre incorporates all her training into her bodywork sessions but the majority of the techniques used come from the Masterson Method™. The Masterson Method™ has really changed her approach with the horses’. Less is more with this method and you also learn that you are a facilitator with this method, using clear signs from the horse to guide you to the release. You are not just working “on” the horse, you are working “with” the horse. In April of 2011, Lorre embarked on a new adventure. She has enrolled in a three year course at the Vluggen Institute in San Marcos, TX to learn osteopathy.

When Lorre is not working on horses, she enjoys time at home with her boys, Todd and Mitchell and their 7 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She also enjoys running and biking and recently (Feb 2011) ran her first half marathon. And of course riding…her first passion!
“Joy comes in many forms, but the joy I get from seeing an animal in pain feel better, especially one so noble as a horse, is absolutely indescribable.”
